Due to the weather forecast, this tour has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to a later date.

Join Charles P. Wang, President of the Chinese American Cultural & Art Association, on a tour of Sunset Park, one of New York’s hidden treasures. In the 1980s, Sunset Park became the location of the borough's first Chinatown, which is located along 8th Avenue from 42nd to 68th Street and has rapidly attracted many Chinese immigrants. Winnie Greco, director of Asian Affairs at the Borough President's Office will lead us along 8th Avenue and talk about the neighborhood. We will then stop for a dim sum lunch at Golden Imperial Palace, where Mr. John Chan, head of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, will give us a briefing on the growth of the Asian population in Brooklyn.

Charles P. Wang is one of the country’s most preeminent Chinese-Americans, serving with great distinction locally, nationally, and internationally. Mr. Wang helped Dr. Kissinger open diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China; worked for five consecutive U.S. Presidents – Carter, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43; was President of the China Institute; co-founded the Committee of 100 – a group of the most influential Chinese-Americans; etc.

The tour will start at 11:00am outside the entrance of N Train Eighth Avenue Subway Stop. We expect to do a lot of walking, so please wear comfortable shoes. $35 per person, including the tour, lunch, tax, and service. Advance reservations required by Thursday, August 2nd, at which time they are considered final sale.
