You may have avoided networking because you thought it was dark magic requiring you to be a super salesman who annoys hundreds of people, asking total strangers for a job.  Based on what we hear, who could blame you?  As we adjust to our new social distancing reality, we need to recognize the value of networking, how widely and completely it is misunderstood and how we can network without having to have a personality transplant.

Networking, properly done, is an opportunity to be ourselves, identifying our need and the needs of our contacts so we can have a conversation that interest us both, thus strengthening our connection to mutual benefit.

Join coach Win Sheffield to look at how to approach contacts and re-imagine networking as something we can do naturally and with ease.  Learn how to:

  • Identify common networking myths
  • Clarify the purpose of your conversation
  • Convey your value to your audience

If you want to start thinking about this In advance, you can listen to 5-minute podcasts on networking at bit.ly/TPOY-Networking

Since 2003, clients who work with Win have learned how to articulate themselves in the job market, conveying their experience in ways that attract interest and lead to further referrals and jobs.

In addition to an M.B.A. from Boston University, an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College, Win certified as a career coach through the Five O'Clock Club, and has studied Myers-Briggs and counseling.  His previous career in strategy development and implementation at Citibank, J.P. Morgan and PricewaterhouseCoopers and his own transitions provide a strong foundation for his work with clients.

Win's microcasts (www.WinSheffield.com) and workshops span career topics from figuring out what's next to salary negotiation, to sustaining moral.  He has spoken and taught career courses in New York, Silicon Valley and London
