When the New York metropolitan area returns to normal, we will go back to an aging transportation system that is too often unreliable, overcrowded, and uncomfortable.

Our subways, trains, and highways were once the best in the world, but no longer meet our needs.  What are our prospects for improving them? How should we prioritize our limited resources?  Can we compete with other global cities in the 21st century?

Philip Mark Plotch will talk about our current transportation problems, how we got there, and what we can do about them. He will answer questions about your ideas to enhance our transportation network.

Dr. Plotch, Associate Professor at Saint Peter's University, is the author of "Last Subway: The Long Wait for the Next Train in New York City" published by Cornell University Press in March 2020.  He is also the author of the award-winning book, "Politics Across the Hudson: The Tappan Zee Megaproject."

Members can receive 30% off of Last Subway: The Long Wait for the Next Train in New York City with the code: 09FLYER.
