Covers the history of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, discussing how it evolved from a 19th century woodland to a waterside suburb, then postwar Italian enclave. Then, we enter the area that Dyker Heights is most known for -- the homes which sport thousands of Christmas Lights and delightful over-the-top Christmas displays. We will navigate the area beforehand so you don't miss out on the most important houses and lights in the neighborhood. We will also discuss the origins of this magnificent modern tradition -- how it started, what's behind it, the costs, and the controversies.  But most important, your senses will come alive as you experience the lights in their glory, and see why the neighborhood is often called "The King of Christmas Lights" and the "undisputed capital of Christmas pageantry."

The Group will meet in front of Dime Savings Bank at 8520 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209 at the corner of 86th Street and 4th Ave in Brooklyn. Subway: R train to 86th Street in Brooklyn.

4:00pm tour. $30 per person. Advance reservations required by Thursday, November 30th at which time they are considered final sale.
