Join presidential historian Yanek Mieczkowski as he counts down the five greatest inaugural addresses, discussing their historical imprint and their legacies—with some surprises along the way!
Yanek Mieczkowski is a native of Ithaca, New York and holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He is the author of The Routledge Historical Atlas of Presidential Elections (2nd edition, Routledge Press, 2021), Eisenhower's Sputnik Moment: The Race for Space and World Prestige (Cornell University Press, 2013), and Gerald Ford and the Challenges of the 1970s (University Press of Kentucky, 2005). Dr. Mieczkowski has contributed more than forty articles to Oxford University Press's American National Biography, and he has worked as an Advanced Placement Exam grader for the Educational Testing Service. For nineteen years, he was Professor and Department Chair of the History Department at New York's Dowling College, until its 2016 closure. He is currently a visiting professor at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida.
