Professor Barry Strauss will discuss his bestselling new book Ten Caesars: Roman Emperors from Augustus to Constantine. Strauss tells the story of three and a half centuries of the Roman Empire through the lives of ten of the most important emperors, from Augustus to Constantine. They made the Roman Empire the ruthless, violent, yet surprisingly open society that continues to fascinate us today.

Barry Strauss, professor of history and classics at Cornell University, is a leading expert on ancient military history. He has written or edited several books, including The Battle of Salamis, The Trojan War, The Spartacus War, Masters of Command, and The Death of Caesar. He is the host of the popular podcast, "Antiquitas: Leaders and Legends of the Ancient World," which can be found on iTunes and other platforms.

6:00pm reception; 6:30pm lecture, gratis.
