Running on Purpose: Winning Olympic Gold, Advancing Corporate Leadership and Creating Sustainable Value.

In his first book, Moore has delivered a work that is not just a career memoir or an inspirational business book; it also champions family, resilience, persistence, the drive for results, strong communications and other traits that can, and should guide our personal and professional lives. This is a remarkable first-person story of the action, tenacity, creativity, celebration and principles that carried Moore from one success to another — and that ultimately led to his most important legacy: providing insights for guiding twenty-first century American business.

Remarkably, Moore produced a sequel in less than eight months but targeted on a middle- grade audience (ages 8 to 14), One Hurdle at a Time. Readers join Moore in Helsinki as well as his inspiring successes since then in addressing life's hurdles to create a guide for self-improvement and to inspire kids to aim high and be their best selves.

Cornell has provided bookends of Moore's career extending over fifty years: BME graduate (1951), Olympian and athletic director (1994-1999), capped by a lifetime member of the Cornell Council. The Cornell Sun recognized him as the "athlete of the decade", and the Cornell magazine declared him the "3rd greatest athlete ever at Cornell". He was inducted into Cornell's inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame in 1978 and was a member of Aleph Samach and Quill & Dagger honorary societies. The Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete at Cornell is named for him.

6:00pm reception; 6:30pm lecture, gratis. Copies of "Running on Purpose" and "One Hurdle at a Time" will be available for sale. Members and guests are invited to dine at The Club with Mr. Moore following the lecture. The cost is $45 per person, inclusive of tax, gratuity and one glass of wine with dinner. Dinner reservations are required 48 hours prior to the program. Same-day cancellations and no shows will be charged.
