The Evolution of NBA Fan Engagement with NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum '91

More than one billion people tuned into an NBA game last season – 1 out of every 7 people in the world.   Live games and programming are available in 215 countries and territories in 49 languages, NBA League Pass is providing fans with new ways to consume the game, social media content is fueling real-time global conversations, and virtual reality is taking fans courtside – just like Jack Nicholson – to experience the best seat in sports.

NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum will discuss the evolution of fan engagement and how technology is giving NBA fans around the world greater access to the game from anywhere, and at anytime.

In his role, Tatum is responsible for the league's business operations, including leading the NBA's international efforts.  He also oversees the Global Partnerships, Marketing, Communications, and Team Marketing and Business Operations departments, in addition to the NBA Development League.  Through his leadership skills and extensive industry relationships, Tatum has been influential in guiding and growing the league's business since joining the NBA in 1999.

Prior to assuming his current role, Tatum served as Executive Vice President of Global Marketing Partnerships, where he managed the Business Development, Partnership Management, and Media groups, which work with the league's extensive list of marketing and media partners.

Tatum received a bachelor's in business management and marketing from Cornell University in 1991 and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1998.  While at Harvard, he was elected President of the Harvard Business School Student Association.  He is on the Cornell College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Deans Advisory Council and the Harvard Business School Club of New York Board.
