Cornell Alumni in New York have a long and distinguished
history of involvement with the university, dating
back to the Cornell Men's and Women's Clubs in
1889. Since 1989, when Cornell opened its own
facility on East 44th Street, the Alumni Association
and The Cornell Club-New York have formed a unique
partnership which allows Alumni Association for
New York City Cornellians to enjoy the activities
and privileges similar to other regional alumni
groups, along with the special benefits of association
with The Cornell Club-New York. Alumni Association
members can choose from many events to participate
in such as All-Ivy mixers and "Millennium
Movie Nights" hosted by The Cornell Club-New
York, and speakers events featuring members of
Cornell University faculty. The Alumni Association
for New York City Cornellians welcomes your participation,
your ideas, and your support in a broad range
of social, cultural, business, educational and
philanthropic activities.
In the past year, 1,000 Cornell volunteers have
worked with Association and Club committees to
support the university and the community, while
making new friendships and renewing old ones.
There are several Alumni Association Committees
where you can become involved: The Career Committee,
The Community Outreach Committee, The Cornell
Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) and
The Scholarship Committee. Opportunities for Alumni
Association involvement on The Cornell Club-New
York Program Committees include working on Arts
& Entertainment plans, Social events, Speakers
and Cultural events, Young Alumni events and on
special committees such as the annual Moonlight
Cruise.
Those eligible for membership in the Alumni Association
of New York City are Cornellians who hold an undergraduate
or graduate degree from Cornell and who reside
within the five boroughs of New York City. Annual
membership (Sept 1 - Aug 31) dues of $45 entitle
Alumni Association members to receive the quarterly
Alumni Association of New York City Cornellians
newsletter as well as special notices for All-Alumni
events, Alumni Association mailings and an opportunity
to serve on the Service and/or Program committees.
